Hunt Valley, Maryland (19 June 2025)—EA is proud to announce that Vice Chair Peter Ney was elected as Chair of the Employee Ownership Foundation (EOF). He will serve a 2-year term as Chair and will also continue to serve on the board of directors of The ESOP Association.
“Helping more Americans realize the dream of employee ownership and working for more than just a weekly paycheck is vitally important—now more than ever when the gap between our wealthiest and our poorest citizens has never been greater,” said Ney. “In this new role, I hope to focus on reaching those founders—whether it’s through education, research, or communications—because that’s where employee ownership originates.”
Established in 1991, the EOF is dedicated to growing employee ownership in America through education, research, and outreach to the business community and policymakers. Since then, the foundation has raised and donated millions of dollars to support academic research, encourage objective studies, and foster dialogue among thought leaders on the principles and benefits of employee ownership through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
“Peter Ney is a natural leader who has been a tireless champion of employee ownership over his many years of volunteer service with The ESOP Association,” said James Bonham, President of the Employee Ownership Foundation and President and CEO of The ESOP Association. “His ambitious vision and deep personal history with employee ownership make him the perfect choice to lead the Foundation and the employee ownership movement to even greater heights during his term as Chair.”
Ney joined EA’s senior management team in 2001, initially serving as Chief Financial Officer. During this time, the firm transitioned from public to private to employee ownership, completing the change to a 100% ESOP-owned Public Benefit Corporation in 2014. A passionate advocate for employee ownership, he has served multiple terms on the board of directors of The ESOP Association, most recently as Chair of its inaugural Public Policy Council.
“Peter’s leadership and advocacy have been instrumental in advancing and promoting the benefits of employee ownership,” said Ian MacFarlane, EA’s President, CEO, and Chair. “His dedication to representing EA, our industry, and our business model has made a significant impact on our organization and the broader ESOP community.”
