Regina Cagle Irr Joins U.S. Composting Council MD-DC Chapter Board of Directors

Hunt Valley, Maryland (27 March 2024)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, is proud to announce that Regina Cagle Irr, P.E., has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Maryland (MD)-DC Chapter of the U.S. Composting Council (USCC). She will serve a 2‑year term as Chapter Secretary, meeting regularly with board members to oversee and direct chapter business operations, set policies, approve business decisions, evaluate executive performance, and fulfill fiduciary responsibilities. Regina previously served as a founding member of the USCC MD-DC Chapter Formation Committee and is also actively involved with the Solid Waste Association of North America Mid-Atlantic Chapter.

“I am passionate about improving solid waste and organics management and ensuring our systems and infrastructure evolve with our societal needs.” said Regina. “As a member of the USCC MD-DC Chapter Board, I am excited to continue supporting the overall growth of the composting industry and production of high-quality finished compost in the region.”

Regina is an environmental engineer with 15 years of industry experience. She has extensive experience in solid waste management and organics recycling, including design-and-construction support of the award-winning, three-phase build-out of Howard County’s Composting Facility at the Alpha Ridge Landfill. Regina earned a Master of Sustainable Energy Development from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Drexel University. She is a licensed professional engineer in Maryland and a TRUE Zero Waste Advisor.

The USCC membership of 800 includes representatives from compost manufacturers, researchers, consulting and marketing firms, allied and compostable product manufacturers, government agencies, as well as individuals and enthusiasts. The organization’s goal is to continually advance organics recycling for compost manufacturing and use, to support healthy air, water, and soils. The MD-DC Chapter was formed to educate the public about the importance of composting, and train and educate members of the composting industry regarding best practices, development, expansion, and promotions, using science, principles of sustainability, and economic viability.
