Hunt Valley, Maryland (4 June 2024)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, is supporting the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District (link opens in new window) (SRPEDD) by executing a Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (link opens in new tab) program Phase I Planning Grant awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Performed under a Statewide Contract for climate action services within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the work is associated with completion of a Priority Climate Action Plan, Implementation Grant Proposal, and Comprehensive Climate Action Plan for the combined geography of 27 communities in southeast Massachusetts and the state of Rhode Island.
EA’s responsibilities involve preparation of a regional greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, quantification of GHG emission reduction measures, evaluation of co-pollutants, development of GHG emission projections and reduction targets, and support for stakeholder engagement. Focus areas include electric power consumption; transportation; commercial, residential, and industrial heat; industrial processes; agriculture, natural, and working lands; waste and materials management; and natural gas distribution.
“We applaud SRPEDD’s regional carbon pollution reduction efforts to enable ready, effective projects that can scale up permanent emissions reductions,” said Chris Kerlish, EA Vice President and Program Director. “This is a unique opportunity for us to work in partnership with local stakeholders that will provide tangible benefits to regional climate pollution reduction efforts.”
EA has compiled numerous GHG air emission inventories for state, federal, and private sector clients since 2011 and has supported development of Climate Action Plans based on comprehensive evaluation of sector-specific GHG emission reduction strategies, harmonized with established climate action goals.
