Colleen Rust to Serve on SAME National Board of Direction

Headshot of Colleen RustHunt Valley, Maryland (21 July 2025)—EA is proud to announce that Colleen Rust was selected as the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Western Region Vice President representative (including the Southwest, Northern Tier, and California), on the new National Board of Direction, previously known as the Executive Committee. Currently, she currently serves as SAME’s Southwest Region Vice President and will serve a 1-year term on the National Board of Direction.
Rust will facilitate regional meetings, and act as a liaison between the Board and Western Regional Posts and members to ensure effective communication and actively represent the region during National Board of Direction meetings.

I look forward to working alongside dedicated professionals and contributing to the organization’s mission and strategic plan.”

Since 1920, SAME’s mission has been to facilitate collaboration between government and industry leaders in developing solutions for national security infrastructure challenges. The organization brings together architects, engineers, scientists, contractors, environmental and facility managers, cybersecurity specialists, project planners, contracting and acquisition personnel, and much more to support national security.

In 2023, Rust joined EA’s Albuquerque, New Mexico office, as a project manager and senior geologist. She is a licensed Professional Geologist in Washington, Arizona, Alaska, and Texas. Rust holds certifications from the American Institute of Professional Geologists and the Project Management Institute. Her experience includes more than 16 years in the environmental services industry serving clients throughout the western United States as a project manager, quality assurance/quality control manager, site safety and health officer, and professional geologist.

Rust earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science in hydrogeology from Washington State University. Since 2017, she has served leadership roles in SAME and completed their Leadership Development Program in 2023. She is a member of the American Institute of Professional Geologists, New Mexico Engineering Foundation, Ranchos De Placitas Sanitation District, and Texas A&M Geology & Geophysics Department Advisory Council.
