During the construction of the Cove Point Liquefaction Project (the Project), Dominion Cove Point LNG, LP was required by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to manage Non-Native Invasive Species at the Pleasant Valley Compressor Station project site for the Limit of Disturbance. In order to support the management effort, EA performed 2 years of Non-Native Invasive Species monitoring during the construction period while the site was disturbed, as well as 2 years following the completion of construction.
During the construction and post-construction periods, monitoring was conducted every 2 months during the growing season (April through November). EA personnel traversed the site on foot and documented plant species identified as Non-Native Invasive Species, which were recorded by a Global Positioning System and an estimate of the areal coverage of the Non-Native Invasive Species was made for each Global Positioning System point location. Data forms were completed by EA in the field with information such as description of landscape, identification of species of concern, description of habitat area, and management recommendations.
