EA directed a 9-month EHS management system’s integration project for one of the world’s largest global pharmaceutical research and development companies addressing EHS management system assessment, design, and implementation plans across 19 global sites. EA staff provided benchmarking, facilitation, assessment, and implementation support to Pfizer Global EHS Business Unit to baseline existing EHS management programs, define integration points, and document conformance with new Pfizer Corporate Guidelines, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001. EA initially completed a gap assessment of the new Pfizer Corporate EHS Guidelines to ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 requirements to define linkages between internal requirements to ISO standards, and led a multi-day “visioning” workshop with global EHS personnel to document “as is” and “to be” conditions for an integrated EHS management system future state. EA certified EMS lead auditors/auditors led internal assessment teams assessing EHS management systems and guidelines and conducting gap assessments at pilot sites in the United States and United Kingdom to ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and Pfizer Corporate EHS Guidelines. Unique aspects of the project included global integration across multiple business units and geographic boundaries, roles and responsibilities, and leveraging of efficiency across Pfizer Global Research and Development sites and common EHS processes. The client achieved ISO registration at selected global sites within a 3-year period.
