EA supported a fast-moving environmental due diligence evaluation of over 230 gasoline service stations and 15 petroleum storage and distribution terminals located in the Northeast. EA was retained to evaluate the potential environmental liabilities, including developing cost estimates to remediate, each location. EA was provided access to an e-data room and used online databases and publicly available records to perform the evaluation. A master matrix was developed that listed the potential liabilities by location. In order to facilitate the review, EA developed a priority system that allowed legal and financial entities to quickly identify those facilities that posed higher risk. To facilitate the sharing of information with a large team, a project website was developed with a secure password. This allowed for real-time updates of the assessment activities and status of the transaction process. EA provided invaluable support to the deal process through our thorough management of a large amount of data and information, our understanding of each state’s regulatory requirements, and our ability to quickly and accurately estimate potential remedial cleanup costs.
