Hilary Williams Honored with the 2025 Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Award

Headshot of Hilary WilliamsHunt Valley, Maryland (24 June 2025)—EA is pleased to announce that Scientist and Project Manager Hilary Williams has been recognized by Water For People with the 2025 Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Award.

Williams has been a dedicated member of EA’s Water For People Employee Giving Champions for many years. She skillfully blends her passion for hiking with her commitment to philanthropy by organizing an annual group hike for employees at EA’s Syracuse, New York office. Last year, the group took on the Fulton Chain Trifecta Challenge, where more than a dozen hikers successfully completed the challenge by trekking three peaks in the Old Forge region—Black Bear, Rocky, and Bald Mountains—over the span of 2 days. Through crowdfunding efforts, the group raised over $1,500, surpassing their initial goal.

“It’s an honor to receive this award. Organizing the EA hiking events has been a joy and I’m thankful for those who are able to join,” said Williams. “Each year we’ve experienced a variety of conditions while on the trail, which act as a subtle reminder of some of the challenging conditions that others in the world encounter on a daily basis just to access clean water.”

Since 2016, EA has partnered with Water For People as part of the Charitable Giving pillar of the firm’s Public Benefit Corporation framework. Since then, the firm and our employees nationwide have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars through payroll or direct donations with a company match, one-time donations, and organized fundraising.

“Hilary’s contributions to our Water For People Employee Giving program are truly invaluable,” says Abbie Smith, Vice President and Co-Chair of EA’s Workplace Giving Campaign. “Her innovative idea of combining hiking challenges with fundraising efforts not only enhances campaign fundraising efforts but also promotes outdoor cardio activity and team building. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication and creativity.”

The Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Award was established in 2001 by the Water For People Board of Directors to honor outstanding volunteers. Today, the award is presented annually to exceptional volunteers nominated by the Water For People Committees and Workplace Giving Partners.

Williams has been with EA for her entire professional career that spans 15 years, serving in both scientist and project manager roles for public and private sector clients. Her experience encompasses site investigations addressing contaminated soil, sediments, and groundwater, field and laboratory data analysis and management, and long-term monitoring program optimization. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in environmental science and policy from Clarkson University and a master of arts degree in Watershed Management and Forest Hydrology from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
