Hunt Valley, Maryland (6 March 2024)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, is proud to announce that Haley Young has been elected as Treasurer of the Sustainable Remediation Forum (SURF) and member of their Board of Trustees. Serving a 2-year term in this role, she will be responsible for all financial administration for SURF and work closely with the other board members on SURF’s technical initiatives and membership activities.
“SURF creates opportunities to collaborate with other environmental professionals that have backgrounds—whether they are government employees, consultants, or students—that are all striving for the same goal of sustainable remediation,” said Haley. “These different perspectives facilitate a well-rounded approach when solving problems and pitching new ideas for sustainability.”
Haley joined EA in 2021 as a scientist in our Syracuse office. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Buffalo College of Arts and Sciences. Her experience includes field investigations, data management and mapping, and technical report preparation for state and federal clients. She became involved with SURF last year.
“This is a great opportunity for early career professionals like Haley to get involved and play an integral part of the SURF mission,” said Jason McNew, P.E., CHMM, EA Vice President, and former member of the SURF Board of Trustees. “She is continuing EA’s long history of supporting SURF, promoting sustainability, and collaborating with industry leaders on best practices.”
Established in 2006, SURF strives to champion and advance sustainable practices during all phases of environmental cleanup with a goal of balancing economic viability, conservation of natural resources and biodiversity, and the enhancement of quality of life in surrounding communities. The organization has united experienced practitioners in the environmental remediation sector, guiding the progression of sustainable remediation from concept to well-established standard operating procedures.
