Hunt Valley, Maryland (29 September 2025)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, is proud to announce a major expansion of its EnviTreat laboratory. With the expansion, EA further strengthens its position as an industry leader in custom treatability testing and advanced analytics for wastewater treatment systems.
EnviTreat has increased its laboratory footprint by 66% over its previous size. The new space is divided equally between increased analytical testing and a dedicated room maintained at 35 degrees Celsius used for anaerobic testing, including biochemical methane potential assays, treatability tests, toxicity tests, and pilot operations. This expansion triples the laboratory’s anaerobic respirometry testing capacity and enables simultaneous operation of multiple temperature-controlled anaerobic pilot units, streamlining and enhancing reliability for complex testing programs.

“This expansion allows us to better serve our clients with advanced testing and analytics, and to support innovative projects that move ideas from concept to real-world application,” said Matt Frigon, PhD, EnviTreat Laboratory Director. “Our new facilities make it possible to run more pilot units and expand our anaerobic respirometry workload, all in a controlled environment that ensures reliable results. Our purpose is to solve the toughest wastewater challenges and enable the design, construction, and operation of the solutions we uncover.”
In addition to expanded space and capabilities, EnviTreat now offers additional testing capabilities, including scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and elemental analysis. The laboratory continues to deepen its partnerships with local organizations and universities, supporting collaborative research and technology development.
Part of EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC, EnviTreat delivers custom laboratory-based diagnostic services to assess and optimize the function and performance of industrial and municipal wastewater treatment systems. The laboratory’s clients include leading consulting engineers, municipal utilities, wastewater equipment vendors, food and beverage producers, pharmaceutical companies, chemical companies, and more. The laboratory is housed in the Genesis Technology Incubator at the University of Arkansas Engineering Research Center, and includes offices nationwide.
