EA’s Work Honored with Multiple Awards by Environmental Business Journal

Hunt Valley, Maryland (15 May 2026)—Environmental Business International recognized work completed by EA with multiple business achievement awards at their annual Environmental Industry Summit held in April in San Diego, California. The organization provides strategic market intelligence to the environmental industry through publications, including the Environmental Business Journal® (EBJ) and the Climate Change Business Journal® (CCBJ).

“These awards reflect our commitment to addressing complex environmental challenges with practical, results-driven solutions,” said Ian MacFarlane, EA’s President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chair. “From treatability and pilot studies to research and development, EA continues to drive the industry forward through emerging science and innovation for our clients and communities.

The laboratory supports a diverse client base—municipal utilities, consulting engineers, equipment vendors, and industries with custom-designed, laboratory-scale testing. In 2025, EnviTreat expanded its laboratory footprint by 66%, enabling simultaneous operation of multiple temperature-controlled pilot units, streamlining complex testing programs and accelerating innovation.

Brennan Company tackled the daunting challenge of assessing potential removal methods for hundreds of deteriorated drums from the bottom of Torch Lake—a water body impacted by historical mining operations. Innovative removal techniques, robust data collection, and adaptive management yielded valuable lessons for future remediation efforts.

EA’s work involved collecting data on the coastal marsh system to assess current marsh habitat as well as to evaluate the area in terms of historical and future marsh loss.

“In a year of growth but some volatility for the United States environmental industry in 2025, a number of companies distinguished themselves with business model evolution, new practices, technical innovation, or signature projects that merit special recognition,” said Grant Ferrier, editor of Environmental Business Journal and Chair of the EBJ Business Achievement Award selection committee.
