EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC’s Workplace Giving Program Continues to Address the Global Water and Sanitation Challenge

Hunt Valley, Maryland (17 April 2018)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, continues to provide access to safe water and adequate sanitation in developing countries through its support of Water For People (WFP). The company is in the midst of its third, month-long campaign to raise awareness and funds for WFP through its Workplace Giving Program. In the past 2 years, EA and its employees have raised over $100,000 through numerous fundraising events, payroll donations, and online contributions. This year, the goal is to raise an additional $50,000.

“The response by our employees has been phenomenal,” said Abbie Smith, P.E., Chair of EA’s WFP Team. “In just a couple years, we’ve experienced a substantial increase in the number of employees participating as well as the overall donation amount. WFP estimates the economic impact of EA’s to-date giving to be over $1 million.”

“Last year, I had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala to participate in a week-long Impact Tourto visit WFP project sites, learn about their sustainable Everyone Forever model, meet the local WFP Guatemala staff, and experience first-hand the positive impacts that WFP has in the region,” added Erin Toothaker, Compliance Analyst/Scientist. “I was honored to have the opportunity to see their work in person and to share the experience with my workplace colleagues once I returned to the office. This year, an EA employee will be visiting Malawi and I can’t wait to hear about that experience.”

This year’s campaign started on 22 March 2018 (World Water Day) and will continue through 22 April 2018 (Earth Day). EA’s WFP team has developed a full calendar of fundraising activities and events to engage EA employees and continue to build on the WFP partnership. Through participating in these actions, which include cookouts, contests, and socials, EA employees will reaffirm their commitment to addressing the global water and sanitation challenges.
