Biographies
Brad Bigler – General Counsel | SVP
With a career spanning more than two decades in government and corporate law, Bigler joined EA and was named General Counsel in 2023. Prior to this role, he served in multiple leadership roles, including as General Counsel for the government services division of an international engineering design firm and as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army. His academic achievements include a degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a law degree from UCLA, and two Master of Laws degrees—one from the University of Virginia School of Law and another from the Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School. He is licensed to practice law in California, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
Robert Casey – Director, Northeast Business Unit | SVP
With more than 24 years of experience in site investigations, remediation, and environmental management, Casey has built his career at EA. He was promoted to Director of EA’s Northeast Business Unit earlier this year. Prior to that role, Casey served as Vice President and New York Operations Manager for a decade. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt) and completed the Advanced Management Program at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Mark Gutberlet – Director, Facilities Compliance and Engineering Business Unit | SVP
Gutberlet’s 30-year tenure at EA reflects deep specialization in environmental infrastructure. He was promoted to lead EA’s Facilities Compliance and Engineering Business Unit in 2024 after serving 11 years as Profit Center Manager for Mid-Atlantic Engineering. Gutberlet holds both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and is a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer in Solid Waste Management. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in five states.
Jen Martin Bouchard – Director, Pacific Business Unit | SVP
Martin Bouchard is a Senior Geologist with more than 25 years at EA. She was appointed to the role of Pacific Business Unit Director in 2024, Vice President the year prior, and Seattle Operations Manager in 2022. Prior to her shift to operations management, Martin Bouchard specialized in hydrogeologic investigation, remediation project planning, and program management. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geology from Franklin and Marshall College and a Master of Science in Geology from Utah State University. Martin Bouchard is a licensed Professional Geologist in New York and Tennessee and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Abbie Smith – Director, State and Local Market Sector | SVP
Smith manages EA’s client development efforts for state and local governments nationwide. Her career spans 23 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering, infrastructure design, program management, and regulatory compliance. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Johns Hopkins University. She is a registered Professional Engineer in Maryland, a Certified Energy Manager through the Association of Energy Engineers, and an active board member of the Chesapeake Section of the American Water Works Association.
Jamie Suski – Deputy Business Unit Director, Water/Natural Resources | VP
Suski is a Senior Scientist with more than 20 years of experience in aquatic ecotoxicology and environmental policy. Earlier this year, she was promoted to Deputy Director for EA’s Water/Natural Resources Business Unit, based out of Hunt Valley. Suski currently leads EA’s research and development funding initiative that has awarded more than $100,000 funding to eight studies. She earned her Bachelor of Science in biology from Towson University, followed by a Master of Science in toxicology from the University of Maryland, and PhD in biology from Texas Tech University. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in community ecology at Texas Tech and University of Maryland Baltimore County.
