Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Selects EA for Hazardous Substance Support Contract

Scientists and technicians wearing safety gear including harnesses while removing PCBs along a steep slope with peaks, cliffs, and ocean in the backgroundHunt Valley, Maryland (21 March 2024)—The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has selected EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, to provide hazardous substance assessment, cleanup, monitoring, risk assessment, and related support services. The purpose of this contract is to support ADEC in managing, mitigating, and communicating environmental risks to protect state residents and natural resources. The period of performance of the initial contract term extends through October 2028, with optional renewal terms for an additional 5 years, through October 2033.

Work performed may include site management and remediation, risk assessment, monitoring and reporting, sampling and laboratory analysis, public engagement and transparency, training, policy and guidance development, and research and audits to support future planning.

“We have executed more than $100M in environmental engineering and consulting projects for federal, state, and commercial clients at 130-plus locations across Alaska over the past two decades,” noted Jen Martin Bouchard, Vice President and Pacific Business Unit Director. “Through this work, our personnel have gained extensive experience in addressing the logistical, safety, and technical issues related to remote/austere locations in Arctic and Subarctic environments.”
