In support of the Port of Seattle Maritime Division, EA developed a strategy for achieving greenhouse gas reduction goals established by a Port of Seattle Commission resolution in 2017. After developing an outline for the plan and obtaining concurrence from Port of Seattle Maritime managers, EA conducted benchmarking review to document similar work at other seaports and to ensure that the Port of Seattle strategy aligned with Seattle municipal and regional climate action plans. The elements of other feasible reduction strategies were identified and tailored to Port of Seattle and vetted with Port of Seattle managers and other Port of Seattle stakeholders through focused interviews. Greenhouse gas reduction strategies were presented in the final plan to enable effective execution and tracking of greenhouse gas reduction activities to achieve the 2020, 2030, and 2050 goals established by the Port.
