At Fort George G. Meade, EA is supporting the base-wide water line replacement project. Our support includes digital geophysical mapping of right-of-way areas to determine optimal routing and placement of a new 2,160-foot pipeline, conducting visual surveys of the construction area surface, and monitoring intrusive activities that include bore pits and horizontal drilling for potential UXO. Using analog metal detectors, our UXO Teams inspect the excavated soil and drill cuttings to confirm no UXO is present and provide overall UXO safety. EA prepared the Work and Safety Plan for UXO construction support activities, provides UXO awareness to site personnel, and conducts daily safety briefings. Daily UXO Construction Reports are produced to document the areas cleared for UXO.
