EA’s Mark Gutberlet, P.E., Appointed Chair of Baltimore County Solid Waste Management Citizens Review Committee

Hunt Valley, Maryland (2 May 2017)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that Mark Gutberlet, P.E., Manager of the firm’s mid-Atlantic engineering group, was recently appointed as the Chair of Baltimore County’s Solid Waste Management Citizens Review Committee (SWMCRC) by the County Executive. The Committee is assisting the County as it drafts its next Ten-Year Solid Waste Management Plan, including providing input and recommendations to the County. The plan will cover the 2019–2028 period.

A Maryland-licensed Professional Engineer, Mark has 22 years of experience in solid waste management, providing practical solutions to the multitude of issues and challenges associated with the planning, design, construction, operation, closure, and post-closure care of today’s landfills. Over the course of his career, Mark has worked at numerous municipal solid waste management facilities providing engineering design, permitting, and construction management for landfills, compost facilities, convenience centers, landfill gas-to-energy projects, and site facilities; geotechnical engineering; leachate management; landfill gas management; environmental monitoring; and operational support. He has served in management and technical roles on more than 30 solid waste design and permitting projects throughout the region.

A licensed Professional Engineer in Maryland and Virginia, Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Mark has been a member of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) for 10 years, recently serving as President of SWANA’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter.
