EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC Honored with ACEC/NE Merit Award

Hunt Valley, Maryland (10 June 2016)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that it was honored with an Engineering Excellence Merit Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Nebraska (ACEC/NE). ACEC/NE recognized EA for the high degree of achievement demonstrated in its preparation of the Little Blue River Basin Water Management Plan (Plan) on behalf of the Little Blue and Tri-Basin Natural Resources Districts (NRDs). In addition to receiving a Merit Award, the project was also recognized as the Category Winner for Studies, Research, and Consulting Engineering Services. Completed in September 2015, the Plan establishes a comprehensive strategy to manage both water quality and quantity in the Little Blue Basin including both surface water and groundwater—an innovative approach within Nebraska.

Involved from its inception in 2013, EA helped the NRDs successfully secure project funding through multiple grants. In preparing the Plan, EA provided technical expertise, completing two water quality studies, in addition to thoroughly evaluating existing data detailing the Basin’s water resources and their uses. EA was also instrumental in facilitating resource agency coordination and the public involvement process to ensure that decisions were made in consideration and to the benefit of public needs and preferences. The final Plan provides a blueprint for managing the Basin’s water resources for years to come, including implementation targets and action items to address known deficiencies in water quality and quantity.

“It is an honor for EA and the NRDs to receive this award, especially as the project clearly reflects the vision of sustainable water resources shared by the NRDs and EA,” stated Dale Schlautman, Manager of EA’s Lincoln, Nebraska Operations. “The recognition underscores the collaborative work of the NRD staff and EA’s project team to make this important project such a success.”
