EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC Hires Phil Brown, R.G., L.Hg. to Lead its Groundwater Services Practice in the Pacific Northwest

Hunt Valley, Maryland (15 April 2016)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, today announced that Phil Brown, R.G., L.Hg., has joined the firm as Lead Hydrogeologist, Pacific Northwest. A pioneer in the field of aquifer storage and recovery (ASR), Phil is responsible for leading EA’s groundwater services practice in the Pacific Northwest and providing hydrogeologic expertise across the company. He is located in EA’s Portland, Oregon office.

Serving as a strategic advisor to municipal and commercial clients, Phil has repeatedly demonstrated the ability of ASR to address today’s water supply and quality challenges. His 28-year career is a record of success in new supply development and diverse ASR applications targeting supply expansion, aquifer stabilization, aquifer conditioning, and thermal storage. Phil routinely conducts studies to characterize aquifers and determine hydraulic response to changing aquifer and surface water regimes, develops and implements testing programs, supports the design of new supply wells, and rehabilitates existing wells. He has provided expert testimony on legal cases involving municipal and irrigation water rights, and engaged diverse stakeholder groups on complex resource management issues.

“To welcome such a highly capable hydrogeologist and industry influencer like Phil into EA is very exciting,” said Ian MacFarlane, EA’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “As demonstrated throughout his impressive career, Phil is curious, tenacious, and highly adept at solving complex water supply challenges – precisely the skills needed to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients.”

“Phil’s expertise and reputation as an industry leader, as well as his mentoring and leadership skills, serve to greatly enhance EA’s water resource practice,” added Nimish Desai, Vice President and Director of EA’s Pacific Operations. “He has dedicated his career to advancing the technology of ASR and has consistently achieved success by meeting, and in many cases exceeding, anticipated yields and stored volumes.”

Phil is a Registered Professional Geologist in the states of Idaho and Oregon and a Registered Geologist/Hydrogeologist in the state of Washington. A true advocate for ASR, he is a regular speaker and panelist at industry events and is actively involved in professional water resources organizations including American Water Resources Association, American Water Works Association, and National Ground Water Association. Phil earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Master of Science degree in Hydrogeology from San Diego State University.
