EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC to Design Green Infrastructure Projects for the City of Omaha, Nebraska
Hunt Valley, Maryland (6 November 2015)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that it has been awarded a contract to design three separate green infrastructure projects within the City of Omaha’s combined sewer service area.
The main goal of these projects is to separate stormwater and sanitary flows from the existing combined sewers. The projects include the design and installation of multiple underground storage systems that will serve to reduce the size, as well as lower the costs, of downstream piping and infrastructure. The projects also include the use of pervious pavements to reduce surface runoff, and enhancements to neighborhood parks as an added benefit to City residents. The estimated construction cost for the three projects is $10.7 million.
As prime consultant, EA is tasked with the preparation of all engineering plans and specifications and bid documents as required for the letting of construction contracts. Specific tasks include field investigations, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, utility coordination, permitting, public involvement, and bid-phase services. For the duration of the contract, EA will also be responsible for compliance with applicable requirements, the quality of work products, and the safety of onsite personnel.
“We are excited to be supporting the City on these important combined sewer overflow projects,” said Jon Trombino, P.E., EA’s Project Manager. “Now, in addition to applauding the City on its commitment to use green infrastructure solutions to manage urban stormwater and reduce pollutant loading into receiving waters, we get to actively support the program through three separate projects.”
