Hunt Valley, Maryland (1 July 2014)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, was proud to be a sponsor of Waterfest 2014, which took place on 7 June 2014 at Holmes Lake Park, Lincoln, Nebraska. A biennial public event held by the City of Lincoln’s Watershed Management Division, Waterfest is focused on educating and raising awareness about the City’s most valuable resource – water.

During Waterfest, EA’s environmental professionals demonstrated the dynamics of stormwater runoff to the over 2,000 participants. They offered suggestions on how local residents can use soil and plants to decrease runoff volumes and remove pollutants from stormwater. To captivate the attention of the children, EA displayed interactive models and educational posters.

“The City of Lincoln and its partners always do a great job with organizing and promoting this event,” stated Dale Schlautman, Manager of EA’s Lincoln, Nebraska office. “With its environmental sustainability focus, Waterfest echoes EA’s corporate culture and the company’s ongoing efforts to promote engineering and science education. Our employees really appreciated this opportunity to communicate their passion for preserving water quality and conserving natural resources by showing homeowners how small efforts can yield large results when it comes to managing stormwater and protecting our lakes and streams,” added Dan Bigbee, EA Environmental Scientist/Project Manager.

In addition to its participation in events like Waterfest 2014, EA promotes engineering and science education through college scholarships, internships, Fellowship Programs, and employee participation as judges for science fairs and mentors for career events, such as Day with an Engineer. EA’s active involvement stems from the company’s sustainability commitment, which encompasses educating today’s young people to help solve tomorrow’s environmental problems.
