EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Names Six New Profit Center Managers

Hunt Valley, Maryland (11 February 2014)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, is proud to announce the appointment of six employees as Profit Center Managers: Barbara Roeper, P.E., PMP; Scott Dobson; Mark Gutberlet, P.E.; Vivianne Knight; Cecil “Chip” Brown, Jr.; and Robert Casey. As Profit Center Managers, they are responsible for client satisfaction; financial, business process, and personnel management; technical product quality; fostering a safe work environment; and developing new business.

These six appointments reflect EA’s ingrained cultural value of employee development. “For us, loyal, talented professionals are an invaluable asset, and they deserve to be recognized. Barbara Roeper, P.E., PMP

Barbara Roeper, P.E., PMP, manages EA’s Site Characterization and Remediation personnel located in Hunt Valley, Maryland. She has 25 years of diverse environmental project experience serving government agencies and private sector clients and is always looking to help her clients do more with less. A registered Professional Engineer in Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, Barb is also a certified Project Management Professional. She holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Bucknell University.

Scott Dobson

Scott Dobson is responsible for EA’s Site Characterization and Remediation practice at the company’s Abingdon, Maryland, office. Scott has spent his entire 24-year career at EA, and has proven to be a strong mentor to the company’s young professionals. He has extensive experience in conducting remedial investigation/feasibility studies and the design, permitting, construction, and operation and maintenance of groundwater and soil remediation systems and removal actions. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Randolph-Macon College.

Mark Gutberlet, P.E.

Mark Gutberlet, P.E., oversees the company’s mid-Atlantic engineering practice located in Hunt Valley, Maryland. With more than 18 years of engineering design and construction management experience, Mark’s professional career has focused on solid waste and stormwater infrastructure, hazardous waste and contaminated sediment remediation, ecosystem restoration, and shoreline protection. A registered Professional Engineer in Maryland and Virginia, Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Vivianne Knight

Vivianne Knight has been appointed manager of EA’s operations in Seattle, Washington, where EA has had an office for more than 25 years. Vivianne has over 30 years of experience with environmental and infrastructure assessment, design, and construction with federal, state, municipal, and private sector clients. Using multidisciplinary teams, her focus has been on supporting clients in reaching consensus on strategies for the successful completion of complex projects, often under compressed schedules. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Oregon.

Cecil 'Chip' Brown

Cecil “Chip” Brown is responsible for EA’s operations in Hawaii and Guam. Chip is a career-long EA employee with 12 years of experience. He has cultivated an expertise in the development, implementation, and management of a wide range of environmental permitting and regulatory compliance programs, including drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, air, and safety and occupational health. He excels at facilitating coordination and collaboration among interdisciplinary teams to effectively achieve clients’ objectives. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences from the University of Illinois.

Robert Casey

Robert Casey manages the operations of EA’s Syracuse, New York office. A 14-year veteran of the environmental consulting industry, Bob began his career at EA in 2001 as a project manager/scientist. During his tenure, he has developed an expertise in the evaluation of remedial technologies and development of alternatives and exit strategies to achieve site cleanup objectives. Currently, Bob serves as Deputy Program Manager for EA's 7-year/$50 million Standby Engineering Services Contract with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Humboldt State University.
