EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC Honored with 2017 Outstanding Corporate Leadership Award from the Maryland Recycling Network

Hunt Valley, Maryland (20 June 2017)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that it was honored for outstanding leadership for its efforts in waste reduction and recycling by the Maryland Recycling Network (MRN). The award was presented on 12 June 2017 during the MRN 2017 Annual Conference held at the Turf Valley Conference Center in Ellicott City, Maryland.

EA was recognized for the expansion of its well-established, company-wide recycling program to include a kitchen waste reduction and composting initiative. In addition to placing composting bins in all kitchen/café areas of its Hunt Valley corporate headquarters, EA took action to provide its employees with several waste minimization dining options. These included creating a zero-waste option with the purchase of additional non-disposable cutlery and dishware as well as providing 100% compostable utensils, dinnerware, and paper products made from 100% renewable resources. Implemented in 2016, it is estimated that the program will divert approximately 2.5 tons of material per calendar year. In addition, EA hosted its first free eWaste collection event, with employees bringing in their old computers, cell phones, and other electronic equipment to be recycled along with similar computing and telecommunications hardware from EA’s inventory deemed at the end of its useful life.

“Our kitchen waste reduction and composting program is a great illustration of our employees leading by example,” stated Brian Lesinski, Vice President and Director, Corporate Social Responsibility. “This initiative was conceived and implemented by our Maryland-based employees and has proven to be a great success. It has already sparked interest in similar programs at three other EA offices, and we look forward to more coming on board in the next year.”
