EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC Awarded Contract with Maryland State Highway Administration to Provide National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Services, Statewide

Hunt Valley, Maryland (31 March 2015)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that, together with its joint venture partner A. Morton Thomas and Associates (AMT), it has been awarded a $6 million, 6-year contract by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) to provide National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Services. The EA-AMT Joint Venture will support SHA’s Office of Highway Design (OHD) on project assignments statewide.

Work assignments under this contract will support OHD efforts to fulfill the requirements of NPDES regulations and discharge permit conditions for the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System, stormwater construction activities, construction activity effluent limitations, Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Watershed Implementation Plan, and industrial point source discharges. Services may include civil and environmental engineering; geographic information system and database management; remediation and design services; construction management and inspection; illicit discharge/connection inspection, sampling, and elimination activities; water quality education program support; and watershed sampling and monitoring. TMDL activities may include pollutant loading and reduction computations and analysis, stakeholder coordination, implementation of traditional and innovative best management practices, outfall stabilization and erosion repair, and storm drain analysis and design.

“Here in Maryland, given the need to conserve and protect the Chesapeake Bay, maintaining compliance with stormwater regulations is a complex and highly technical endeavor. We are delighted that SHA has selected the complementary strengths of EA and AMT to support its efforts,” stated Jeff Boltz, Ph.D., EA’s Vice President and Principal-in-Charge. “The combination of EA and AMT provides SHA with powerful stormwater management capabilities. We look forward to providing exceptional customer service and solutions to SHA under this contract.”
