EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Honored with Business Achievement Award for Growth of its Contaminated Sediment Management Practice
Hunt Valley, Maryland (14 March 2014)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that it has won a Business Achievement Award from the Environmental Business Journal® (EBJ) for the growth of its Contaminated Sediment Management practice. EBJ recognized the company at an awards banquet as part of the 12th Annual Environmental Industry Summit, an event hosted this week by Environmental Business International Inc. in San Diego, California.
Through significant contract wins, the revenues of EA’s Contaminated Sediment Management practice have more than doubled over the past 3 years. With the addition of key new hires and the establishment of strategically located offices, EA has successfully leveraged the capabilities and experience of two of its core practice areas—hazardous waste assessment/cleanup and dredged materials management—to significantly advance its expertise in contaminated sediment investigation, remedial alternatives development, engineered design, and construction-phase services. The company’s capabilities originate from its longstanding expertise in aquatic science and impact assessment, applying lessons learned to develop efficient sediment characterization strategies and effective remedies that restore aquatic function and habitat. EA utilizes a risk-based approach, which includes analysis of proportionate/relative risk, short- versus long-term effectiveness, long-term liability, new technology efficiency/reliability, and sustainability. Combined, EA’s sediment-related practices now constitute 10 percent of the firm’s multi-service portfolio.
“The key driver in EA’s success in addressing contaminated sediment issues is the depth and breadth of our technical resources, particularly our in-house ecotoxicology laboratory, risk assessment, and remedial design capabilities,” stated Ian MacFarlane, EA’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “EA’s talented professionals have forged strong working relationships with industry-leading technology providers and state and federal regulators, and participate in a variety of technical advisory and industry working groups. We are honored to receive this recognition by EBJ.”
