EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Announces Appointment of Peggy Derrick to Vice President
Hunt Valley, Maryland (19 February 2014)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Peggy Derrick to the position of Vice President. A Profit Center Manager for EA’s mid-Atlantic natural resources operations, Peggy works in the firm’s headquarters in Hunt Valley, Maryland. A 22-year veteran of the environmental consulting industry, Peggy began her career at EA in 1995 as a project scientist. In 2009, she assumed leadership of EA’s Maryland-based natural resources specialists and, in 2012, took on the additional leadership responsibility for EA’s office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
A recognized expert in sediment characterization and dredged material management studies, Peggy has consulted with dozens of port authorities, port tenants, public-private partnerships, as well as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, on programs involving millions of cubic yards of sediment. In addition to her management responsibilities, she continues to provide technical expertise on projects for EA’s private sector clients, as well as state and federal governmental agencies. This includes serving as Principal Scientist for EA’s contract with Region 5 of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for contaminated sediment characterization and remediation, and aquatic habitat restoration services under the Great Lakes National Program Office/Great Lakes Legacy Act. Peggy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Goucher College and Master of Science degree in Marine-Estuarine-Environmental Sciences from the University of Maryland. She is active in industry associations and professional societies including the American Association of Port Authorities, Western Dredging Association, National Association of Environmental Professionals, Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, and Sediment Management Work Group.
