EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Appoints Melissa Smith as Small Business Liaison Officer

Hunt Valley, Maryland (24 December 2013)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, has appointed Melissa Smith   as   its Small   Business   Liaison Officer. In this position, Ms. Smith will be responsible for ensuring the consistent implementation and achievement of EA’s small business goals and requirements.

Reporting directly to the company’s president Ian MacFarlane, Ms. Smith’s responsibilities will include coordinating, tracking, and reporting on EA’s Small Business achievements and/or program deficiencies; developing strategic sourcing teams to help identify suitable small business partners; directing and endorsing EA’s participation in small business events and conferences; overseeing and promoting the use of the internet and other website tools to advertise EA’s small business contracting opportunities; and assisting EA’s management in coordinating company participation in any mentor/protégé agreements.

“As a small business under several industry classification codes established by the U.S. Small Business Administration, EA is fully committed to supporting the socio-economic goals legislated by Congress and specified in many of our municipal, state, and federal agency client contracts,” stated Ian MacFarlane, EA’s President. “Working closely with EA’s procurement team and program and project managers, I am confident that Melissa will make the program a success.”

For more than 25 years, Melissa has served an integral role in promoting teaming opportunities for all categories of small businesses, both as primes and subcontractors. She routinely takes advantage of opportunities to learn about changes in small business programs, exchange small business related “best practices” with colleagues, and foster relationships with other small business professionals both in the private and government arenas. Most recently, she attended training relative to Small Business Education and Advocacy provided by the TRI-Association Small Business Advisory Panel and the Department of Defense Mid-Atlantic Regional Council for Small Business Education and Advocacy.
