EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Awarded Environmental Engineering Consulting Services Contract with Maryland Port Administration
Hunt Valley, Maryland (24 April 2013)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that it has been awarded an Environmental Engineering Consulting Services Contract with Maryland Port Administration (MPA). The contract has an estimated value at up to $4.2 million over its 5-year term. All services under the contract will be performed on a task order basis.
Under this contract, EA will assist MPA in achieving the most time-efficient and cost-effective solutions to dredged material management and habitat development issues facing the Port of Baltimore. EA will provide technical expertise to support MPA with environmental assessment of potential dredged material placement sites, determination of the environmental suitability of selected sites, evaluation for dredged material placement, determination of environmental parameters for habitat development, and development of designs for wetland and upland habitat restoration.
“EA is excited to have been selected for this contract,” said Bill Goodfellow, Vice President and EA’s Principal-in-Charge for this contract. “We have been providing environmental engineering support and dredged material management planning services to MPA for more than 25 years, and have a proven ability to work seamlessly with MPA, Maryland Environmental Service, EA’s team subcontractors, and other designated MPA contractors to meet program goals. We look forward to leveraging our past experiences as we apply our broad technical expertise to support MPA’s dredged material placement challenges.”
EA’s previous work with MPA includes screening and ranking of placement options for the State of Maryland’s Dredged Material Management Program, preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement and associated studies for the Masonville Dredged Material Containment Facility (DMCF), environmental studies and support for the proposed DMCF at Coke Point, and permitting assistance for MPA’s dredged material facilities. The Environmental Impact Statement for the Masonville DMCF was selected for the 2010 National Environmental Excellence Award for NEPA Excellence by the National Association of Environmental Professionals. The Masonville Project was also recognized with awards by the American Association of Port Authorities and the Coastal America Partnership. In addition, EA played an integral role in both the initial development and current expansion of the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island, a project jointly sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Baltimore District and MPA, that beneficially uses dredged material from the upper Chesapeake Bay approach channels to the Port of Baltimore to restore remote island habitat in the Chesapeake Bay.
