EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Awarded a Contract to Provide Landfill Engineering Services at the Harford Waste Disposal Center in Harford County, Maryland

Hunt Valley, Maryland (7 September 2012)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that it has been awarded a contract to provide engineering and construction-phase services to cap existing landfill cells and construct a new cell at the Harford Waste Disposal Center (HWDC), located in Harford County, Maryland. This work will include the evaluation and design of improvements to the stormwater management system and erosion and sediment control system for the entire site.

Earlier this year, EA was selected by Harford County as one of three firms qualified to perform planning, design, permitting, closure, and construction support services for the County’s solid waste management facilities.

“We are honored to be selected by Harford County to support its efforts to enhance the quality of life for its residents,” said Sarah Ridgway, P.E., Vice President and Manager of EA's Mid-Atlantic engineering unit. “Our engineers and environmental professionals will draw on decades of solid waste infrastructure experience in Maryland to close existing landfill cells and design a new cell to extend the useful life of the HWDC.”

HWDC is the County’s only active municipal solid waste landfill. Operations at HWDC include municipal solid waste landfilling, compost and mulch production, recyclable material collection and transfer, a homeowner’s drop-off facility, and related support activities.
