EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Supports Engineer’s Week by Hosting “Day with an Engineer” for Baltimore Area High School Students
Hunt Valley, Maryland (28 February 2012)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, announced today that it has hosted an innovative educational event sponsored by the Baltimore Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME).
Held on 22 February 2012, SAME Baltimore Post’s Day with an Engineer is an annual one-day opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to shadow engineering and science professionals in their work environment. EA has supported this academic component of SAME Baltimore Post’s participation in Engineer’s Week for over 10 years.
Last week, EA hosted students from two schools in Baltimore County, Maryland—St. Paul’s School and Perry Hall High School—at EA’s office in Sparks, Maryland. A team of more than 20 EA employees mobilized to guide the students through a simulated project that took them from meeting with a “client,” to researching and performing an analysis of the project needs, to experiencing what is involved in an independent technical review of their work, and finally to completing a published deliverable…all in a single day!
“Experiential learning opportunities such as Day with an Engineer can be invaluable in mentoring potential future engineers and scientists by encouraging a deeper understanding of how the various technical disciplines within our profession work together to solve problems and serve our clients,” said Michael Battle, EA’s Chief Operating Officer. “Through these exercises in this business setting, the students gain the valuable opportunity to experience real-world applications for the subjects they are studying in the classroom or are planning to pursue in college.”
