EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Hires Three Scientists to Expand Its Team of Hydropower Specialists

Hunt Valley, Maryland (27 January 2012)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services, is proud to announce the addition of three key staff members who expand our capacity to provide consultation on hydropower generation and distribution projects: Wendy Bley; Jody Smet, AICP; and Joyce Brooks.

"In addition to bolstering our capacity in areas such as licensing and license compliance, habitat conservation planning, and public outreach support, these talented professionals have significant land use and recreational planning expertise, further enhancing the value of our services to hydropower clients."

Wendy Bley

Wendy Bley has over 20 years of experience supporting and managing hydropower licensing and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) compliance activities, including the preparation of more than 15 FERC license applications. She has extensive environmental and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) experience related to the hydroelectric industry, with an emphasis on land use and shoreline management planning, recreation, water quality, and fisheries and fish passage issues.

Jody Smet, AICP

Jody Smet, AICP, has 14 years of experience providing environmental and licensing services for hydropower projects, with expertise in watershed restoration and land and shoreline management, recreation planning, and public outreach. She provides environmental and technical assistance to FERC staff in the review of license applications and resource management plans and the preparation of NEPA documents for hydropower projects. In addition, she has project relicensing experience with hydropower projects in North Carolina, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Virginia.

Joyce Brooks

Joyce Brooks has 8 years of experience supporting hydropower projects through environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, pre-application document and license application preparation, shoreline management planning and implementation, relicensing study management, recreation facility inventories, NEPA support, and technical writing and editing. Her hydropower client experience includes projects across the United States, spanning from Maine to California.
