EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. Certified to Conduct Toxicity Testing under New Guidelines Issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia

Hunt Valley, Maryland (24 June 2011)—EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. (EA), a leading provider of environmental, engineering, and program/construction management services, announced today that its state-of-the-art Ecotoxicology Laboratory in Sparks, Maryland, has recently been approved as an accredited laboratory under a new program administered by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of General Services, Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services.

EA has long supported clients by performing acute and chronic toxicity testing with a variety of freshwater and saltwater vertebrate and invertebrate test species in full compliance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and state regulatory guidelines.

“Achieving this new state-level accreditation enables EA to continue to serve our Virginia clients in obtaining and complying with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits for their discharges,” said Ian MacFarlane, EA’s President and Chief Executive Officer. Wayne McCulloch, EA’s Ecotoxicology Laboratory Director, added, “It also affirms the effectiveness of EA’s stringent Quality Assurance/Quality Control program, which ensures the accuracy of laboratory data through rigorous auditing procedures and detailed documentation.”

In addition to individual state certifications, EA’s laboratory is nationally certified through the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) and is equipped to provide maximum flexibility for customizing ecotoxicology testing programs to meet clients’ needs, while ensuring that all regulatory requirements are satisfied.
